"Action Expresses Priorities" --Gandhi

I started this blog on a sort of whim. Due to a little inspiration from my journalism class and a small desire to publish my ambitions, I thought I'd give it a try. As of right now, I'm going to treat this blog as a sort of bucket list, and a means to document the many things I plan to experience in my near future. Although sharing my ideas on a social-networking site will not force me to accomplish them, it will motivate me to act on my dreams rather than sit on the possibilities of what they may become. Ironic enough, maintaining my own blog is one of the many goals I've wished to fulfill-- it may be small and petty, but it's a good start. In my opinion, initiating an action is the most difficult part, but I'm tired of wishing and ready to begin "doing."

The name of my blog, "Emergency Champagne Glasses," derives from a line in my favorite poem "Silver-lined Heart" by Taylor Mali, an absolutely genius man who deserves to be recognized for his satisfying work. Because this blog represents my planned adventure, I thought the line appropriate. One thing I plan to keep in the back of my car as I grow older is a pair of emergency champagne glasses. Of course there are more seemingly apparent reasons to celebrate such as weddings, graduations, promotions, etc. But I firmly believe that life is a good enough reason to make merry. So, toast to a broken-down vehicle. For it's a reason to lay on the hood of your car, breathe a little slower than normal, and an excuse to take a moment to enjoy the blessings that surround you. Sometimes the most inconvenient situations in life turn out to be the most beautiful.
